How long does it take for hagfish to recharge it’s slime glands? Sarah Schorno’s new paper in the Journal of Experimental Biology has the answer for you.
Our paper on the biomechanics of hagfish interactions with toothy predators is now out in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface. This project was led by U of Guelph MSc student Sarah Boggett, Guelph undergraduate Jean-Luc Stiles and was a collaboration with Adam...
Dr. Gaurav Jain will be joining the Fudge Lab in February to work on a hagfish slime biomimetics project. Gaurav got his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Virginia Tech and he’ll be coming to us from his previous position at NYU.
Check out a nice piece by Kendall Powell on the current state hagfish slime research in Knowable magazine.
The postdoc position in hagfish slime biophysics that was advertised earlier is now closed. Stay tuned for other postdoc positions that will be advertised in the near future.
Andy Turko from Pat Wrights’ lab at the University of Guelph recently published an interdisciplinary paper on the effects of gravity on gills of the amphibious fish known as the mangrove rivulus. Using ingenious experiments at Dalhousie’s microgravity...
Stacey Zuppa and Lauren Friend won first prize in the undergraduate poster category at the recent Southwestern Organismal Biology conference held this year at the Claremont Colleges. Congrats to Stacey and Lauren, as well as co-authors Kevin and Charlie!
Welcome to Dr. Charlene McCord, who joined the Fudge Lab as a Grand Challenges Initiative postdoc. Charlie will be teaching GCI classes and doing research on hagfish biomechanics. Charlie got her PhD from the University of Chicago, where she worked on the evolution...
Congratulations to Research Associate Kevin Jagnandan, who is joining the faculty at San Diego City College!
