About our lab and research

Sharma lab is a part of Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chapman University School of Pharmacy. Tear film is a thin layer of fluid that covers the eye surface. It is vital for healthy ocular surface and normal vision. Abnormalities in tear film can cause dry eye, ocular surface defects and vision impairment. Many systemic diseases can cause tear film abnormalities. Currently, our lab is focused on understanding the etiology of dry eye associated with diabetes mellitus and graft versus host disease (GVHD). The long term goal is to develop rational therapeutic strategies based on the underlying cause of dry eye associated with diabetes mellitus and GVHD.
