Logline: A quirky young man is forced to improvise his grandfather’s burial after he learns they cannot afford any sort of funeral, all to the dismay of his grieving grandmother.
Page Count: 7
Genre: Dark Comedy
Cast Breakdown:
ELLIS, 22, a goofy young man who was born and raised in Florida. He has lived with his grandparents his whole life, but is still hardworking. He’s probably the most realistic one in the family, though this might be clouded by his occasional wit.
DELILAH, 87, a native to New York, and still carrying that thick accent, she is Ellis’s proud grandmother. Perhaps a bit naive to their living situation, Delilah still has her heart in the right place. Ultimately, she is full of love, just has a weird way of showing it.
“BUGS” TEED, 89, the cranky grandfather of Ellis and devoted husband of Delilah. He is a bit of a hoarder, but is also deeply understanding and wants the best, both for his wife and for Ellis.
Location Breakdown:
A run-down single-story home in Florida with:
– A small, grimy master bedroom
– A second, even smaller, cramped bedroom
– A similarly messy dining room
– A front yard with a dying lawn
– A backyard
Special FX/Cheats/Stunts:
Dead body version of “Bugs,” which has to be placed into the back of a car as well as a gravesite.
