LOGLINE: The black sheep of the family must survive his mother’s birthday dinner as he navigates his insufferable Southern Christian family.

CHARACTERS

NORMAN MAYES: (28, caucasian male) Norman is a hard-working surgical resident in Nashville. He is a naturally awkward and nerdy guy who centers his personality on being a surgeon. Norman is from a small-town Christian family, and he couldn’t be more different from. Despite being raised in a traditional Christian environment, Norman doesn’t consider himself religious, and his values are based on science and realism.

ROSEANNE MAYES: (55, caucasian female) Roseanne is the neighborhood sweetheart. She’s faith-based and the type of woman who would make you a mystery casserole if she found out (through her gossipy bible study group) that you and your family were going through hard times. Roseanne wants nothing more than to keep her family together and happy.

JEFFREY MAYES: (57, caucasian male) Jeff has a solid build, a clean cut, and a deep voice that vibrates the room. He’s the kind of guy you wouldn’t want to pick a fight with, but he is the nicest, most gentle man once you get to know him. Jeffs is your typical Southern man; he’s into sports, his family, a churchgoer, works at a construction company, and enjoys simplicity and routine. Jeff is not the most understanding person, as he doesn’t quite relate to those who don’t have the same interests or lifestyle.

MAGGIE MAYES:(24, caucasian female) Maggis is always the brightest person in the room, not only in what she wears but also through her bubbly personality and rather loud tone of voice. Maggie is a new mom to her 1-year-old son, Tommy, and a dedicated wife to her “ideal” husband, Paul. Maggie has a side hustle of selling baked goods within the neighborhood, but other than that, her full-time job is being a wife, mother, and youth leader at the church daycare.
