Logline: A mild-mannered funeral home director moves to a small Southern town and turns to murder as an attempt to improve business.
Summary: The first act introduces Tod, our murdering/funeral home directing protagonist. Tod has moved to Richmond, Tennessee with his pregnant girlfriend, Christine. Tod is not well liked by Christine’s family and the couple’s cash flow is soreley lacking pre-baby. That’s when Tod almost hits Christine’s grandmother with his car, and she dies of a heart attack. Tod feels terrible, but gets hired to do her funeral netting a fair chunk of cash... giving Tod an idea.
Tod first kills Christine’s cousin, Ronnie by somehwat accidently causing him to fall off a roof. Tod then breaks into Christine’s aunt Janice’s house and after a confrontation, Tod kills her with a fireaxe. This shakes Tod for a while. He begins going a bit crazy, but when money runs short again, Tod kills and robs Christine’s brother, Buster. As this happens, Christine gives birth to her and Tod’s daughter.
Christine’s other brother, Sheriff Geoff, begins to put the pieces together and catch onto Tod. There is a confrontation in the cemetery of Serenity Acres and Tod brutally murders Geoff with a screwdriver. To his horror, Christine is standing there watching. He attacks her in a fury, but she proceeds to shoot him with Geoff’s gun and burries him alive in a grave. The final shot ends with a soft banging where Tod was burried.
