Lydia Yu, Junior | Health Sciences Major

My name is Lydia Yu, and I am a junior majoring in Health Sciences at Chapman University. Following graduation, I plan to pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and specialize in Nuclear Pharmacy. My longstanding passion for science and healthcare drives me to seek opportunities that deepen my clinical experience, expand my understanding of primary care, and strengthen my research skills in laboratory settings.
At Chapman, I’ve embraced leadership roles as an Orientation Leader and as the Lead Peer Advisor for First-Year and Transfer Students—positions that have allowed me to support and connect with the campus community. Beyond academics, I actively volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital and with Meals on Wheels through my sorority’s philanthropy efforts. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to compassionate care and community service.
Paige Kwan, Senior | Biology Major | Chemistry & Sociology Minors

Hi! My name is Paige Kwan, and I’m a senior at Chapman University majoring in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Sociology. I joined the Soft Materials Research Lab to dive deeper into the field of nanotechnology and explore the surface chemistry of soft materials for biomedical applications. This hands-on experience has been incredibly rewarding and aligns with my long-term goal of attending medical school and becoming a physician.
Outside of academics, I love hiking, crocheting, and teaching. I’m passionate about giving back to my community—both on and off campus. At Chapman, I work as a Supplemental Instructor (SI), serve on the executive board of the American Society for Molecular Biology and Biochemistry club, and lead a community outreach project focused on supporting senior citizens. These opportunities allow me to share what I love, connect with others, and help people discover their own passions too.
Kaiya Hoopai, Sophomore | Biology Major

Aloha! My name is Kaiya Hoopai, and I am a sophomore majoring in Biology with a deep-rooted passion for science, healthcare, and community engagement. My interest in public health and healthcare systems led me to Islam lab, where I am excited to contribute to research that translates scientific discovery into meaningful, real-world impact. My long-term goal is to pursue a career in medicine, combining my love for science with a commitment to service.
I was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu, where growing up in a close-knit community instilled in me the value of giving back. This past summer, I had the privilege of interning at a medical office dedicated to serving the Native Hawaiian community—an experience that further solidified my dedication to healthcare and culturally responsive service.
Beyond academics, I find joy in nature—whether it’s spending time at the beach, hiking, or exploring new adventures with friends. I’m also an avid animal lover and proud caretaker of five cats and two dogs (all equally adored!). On campus, I stay actively involved through my sorority, various student organizations, and creative outlets such as arts and crafts. I thrive on staying engaged, embracing new learning opportunities, and building meaningful connections with those around me.
Kaylee Kang, Junior | Biology Major | Chemistry Minor

My name is Kaylee Kang, and I am a junior at Chapman University majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I joined the Soft Materials Lab to expand my understanding of the techniques used in designing and optimizing drug delivery systems. This research aligns with my passion for materials science and its application to patient care, and it supports my long-term goal of pursuing a career in medicine.
On campus, I serve as a board member for the American Society for Molecular Biology and Biochemistry club, where I help foster student engagement in the life sciences. Outside of academics, I am currently working toward my phlebotomy certification to gain hands-on clinical experience. In my free time, I enjoy crafting specialty tea and coffee at home, staying active through sports, and exploring local thrift shops.
