Kidnapped

GENRE: Crime Comedy. 15 pages.

LOG LINE: In the aftermath of a desperate girl’s scheme to pay rent, she’s given reason to believe that perhaps her plan did not work out as smoothly as she had thought and must prepare to face the consequences.

CHARACTERS

KELSEY: Female, 20s. Any ethnicity. Attractive, witty, smart, and independent, but a bit reckless when blinded by her own ambitions. While she would love to explore who she is and what she wants to do with her life (which is what she moved to LA to do), she already has plenty on her plate with simply trying to keep her head above water financially. She tries to remain positive, viewing her job as a barista as strictly temporary, and constantly reminding her best friend and roommate, Gwen, that they will surely be able to move somewhere less shitty in no time.  (LEAD)

GWEN: Female, early 20s. Caucasian (tall, slender, blonde). Kelsey’s distractingly beautiful long-time best friend.  She’s kind of fumbling through life at the moment like a doe on ice. While awaiting her big break as an actress, she’s just trying to get by and still keep an optimistic outlook on LaLa land. She’s ambitious, kind, funny, and incredibly loyal when it comes to her friendship with Kelsey.  (SUPPORTING)

BELLE FLOCKER: Female, 14-18 to play 15. Any ethnicity. A perfectly manicured teenage girl used to getting everything that she wants. She’s the classic queen-bee type: cruel and ambitious with a brutal wit. However, underneath her bitchy, shallow exterior, she craves a display of real love from her father that goes beyond an allowance or gifts. (SUPPORTING)

DAVID FLOCKER: Male, 40s. Any ethnicity. A tall and well-dressed silver fox. He’s self-important and views people who are less successful than he is as lesser humans. He loves his daughter, Belle, endlessly and gives her practically anything she wants, but struggles to show is affection for is little princess in more meaningful ways.  (SUPPORTING)

WAITER: Male, 20s. Any ethnicity. A gawky, nervous young fellow who seeks to please.  (FEATURED)

TV HOST: Female, 20s-30s. Any ethnicity. Falls right in with all those other entertainment television hosts out there. She’s up-beat and high energy with a dazzling smile to match. (FEATURED)

MANAGER: Female, 30s. Any ethnicity. A kind-faced woman content with her job as manager of The Coffee Pot.  (FEATURED)

GIRL 1: 14-18 to play 15. Any ethnicity. One of the members of Belle’s posse. Stuck-up, rich, and perfectly primped. A complete follower. She adores Belle, but is also incredibly intimidated by her. (FEATURED)

COP 1 and COP 2: Male, 20s-early 40s. Any ethnicity. Well-built and intimidating. (FEATURED)

Other members of BELLE’S POSSE: Female, 14-18 to play 15. Any ethnicity. 2-4 of them in addition to Girl 1. Must fit the image of Beverly Hills brats. (BACKGROUND)

Unseen, only heard: BACKUP COPS (Any gender, must sound forceful), JEB DULLIN the sketchy landlord (Male, sounds like he could be in his 20s-30s)
