Conference hotel:

Our conference hotel is the Ayres Hotel Orange (group rate of $165/night); rooms are also available at their sister hotel, the ALO Hotel, for a group rate of $155/night. Reservations must be made over the phone to get the group rate. Please call and use the following group name:

Chapman University is a less than 10-minute drive from the hotel. For those driving, free parking passes for Chapman will be provided. For those without cars, shuttle transportation will be available each morning and evening.

Details for those attending SABER West:

Our conference is scheduled to end around 8 PM on January 16. SABER West (at UC Irvine) will start the morning of January 17, and it is approximately a 15-minute drive from the hotel to Irvine. Thus, for those attending both conferences, we recommend checking out of the Ayres Hotel Orange on January 16, and then heading down to the Irvine Marriott (the SABER West conference hotel; negotiated rate of $159/night) following the end of our conference that night. While we are unable to provide any official transportation between Orange and Irvine, we will have an informal sign-up sheet for those wishing to carpool or share Uber/Lyft rides to Irvine. Alternatively, you can also check out of the Ayres Hotel Orange on the morning of January 17 and head down to Irvine then.

If you are attending both conferences and do not wish to switch hotels, you can stay at either the Ayres Hotel Orange or Irvine Marriott for the duration of the conferences (January 15-18). We have negotiated with both hotels to have the special conference rate extend through both conferences, though you will be responsible for transportation to Chapman University for the QR conference (if you stay at the Irvine Marriott) or to UC Irvine for SABER West (if you stay at the Ayres Hotel Orange).

If you wish to stay at Ayres Hotel Orange for the duration of your visit, please see the information above for “Conference hotel.” If you wish to stay at Irvine Marriott for the duration of your visit, please follow the steps below:

  • Book your room through the SABER West lodging page; you will be able to select lodging starting the night of January 16.
  • Complete a quick two-minute form here with your information to notify the SABER West organizers that you wish to stay at the Irvine Marriott during the QR conference as well. Forms must be completed by at least two weeks prior to the conference. The SABER West organizers will then send this information to the hotel, who will then extend your stay with the preferred conference rate. There are also several other hotels within close distance of Chapman University. We list them here for your information; we do not have any preferred rates with these hotels, and you will be responsible for transportation to Chapman University.
