Welcome, Friends

Welcome to the hub for alumni, friends, and supporters of the Chapman University Department of Peace Studies. You read that right, as of 2016-17 Peace Studies became its own department, which offers greater permanence for the program and simultaneously acknowledges the interdisciplinary support for Peace Studies throughout the Chapman curriculum. We intend this site to be an offering of updates and information that we hope will keep you connected to the department.

You can learn how our students make a difference in Peace Studies in the World. Read the Chair’s Welcome and connect with updates from Peace Studies Faculty.

Please be sure to check out recent peace research at Chapman, along with our featured programming and events.

Of course, we always welcome your support.

This Fall as newly minted Delp-Wilkinson Professor of Peace Studies, Dr. Leitz has taken on the task of organizing a campus interrogation of borders, with a focus on the U.S. Mexico Border. There are numerous academics, activists, filmmakers, visual artists, and journalists coming to campus, including 2017 MacArthur Fellow Jason de Leon and 2019 LA Times Book Award Winner Francisco Cantu. The Delp-Wilkinson Lecture Series funding is a major sponsor (along with the Provost Office and the Dean of Wilkinson College). The events and art exhibits run through fall, culminating in a conference, which has one day devoted to student presentations. You can learn more, join a book club, schedule a gallery walk, or join us for any and all events by clicking www.chapman.edu/theborder.
