During this time, he completed two invited articles: one on Torquato Tasso\u2019s <em>Discorsi dell\u2019arte poetica<\/em> and <em>Lettere poetiche<\/em> (1587), forthcoming in <a href=\"https:\/\/cab.unime.it\/journals\/index.php\/GIRALDI\"><em>Studi giraldiani<\/em><\/a>, a respected venue in Renaissance Studies; and another on the reception of Ariosto and Cervantes in German Idealism and twentieth-century literary theory, to appear in <a href=\"https:\/\/historiasfingidas.dlls.univr.it\/\"><em>Historias fingidas<\/em><\/a>, a leading journal in Spanish Studies. He also finalized the proofs for two additional articles\u2014one on duels in <em>Gerusalemme liberata<\/em>, and another on Erich Auerbach\u2019s <em>Mimesis<\/em>\u2014both expected to be published shortly in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinestesierivistadistudi.it\/\"><em>Sinestesie<\/em><\/a> and in <a href=\"https:\/\/rivisteopen.unimc.it\/index.php\/polythesis\"><em>Polythesis<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A major milestone of the summer was the completion of a new book on Ludovico Ariosto and literary theory. Drawing together revised and expanded essays from recent years, along with new chapters, the volume has been restructured into a unified and coherent project. It will be published by Longo Editore (Ravenna) in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.longo-editore.it\/sezioni_bibliografia.php?page=1&amp;mode=collane&amp;id_mode=2\"><em>Memoria del Tempo<\/em><\/a> series, which features significant contributions to Medieval and Renaissance studies from scholars affiliated with institutions such as UCLA, Harvard, Notre Dame, <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic1-confalonieri.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2353 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic1-confalonieri.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"247\" height=\"381\" \/><\/a>Northwestern, and IU Bloomington. The title will be announced in early fall.<\/p>\n<p>Reviews of Professor Confalonieri\u2019s previous work also continued to appear. His 2022 book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loffredoeditore.com\/it\/component\/virtuemart\/articolo\/queste-spaziose-loggie-detail?Itemid=0\"><em>Queste spaziose loggie. Architettura e poetica nella tragedia italiana del Cinquecento<\/em><\/a> (Loffredo, Naples) received renewed attention in <em>Studi e Problemi di Critica Testuale<\/em> (110, 2025), in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.libraweb.net\/articoli3.php?chiave=202508301&amp;rivista=83&amp;articolo=202508301006\">review by Arianna Capirossi<\/a> (Universit\u00e0 di Bologna), and in <em>Renaissance Quarterly<\/em> (78.1, 2025), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/journals\/renaissance-quarterly\/article\/queste-spaziose-loggie-architettura-e-poetica-nella-tragedia-italiana-del-cinquecento-corrado-confalonieri-naples-paolo-loffredo-2022-255-pp-2050\/36ED655A748B7D513D8B778BB9EA42A6\">reviewed by James Grantham Turner<\/a> (UC Berkeley). The most recent issue of <em>Renaissance Quarterly<\/em> (78.2, 2025) also includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/journals\/renaissance-quarterly\/article\/abs\/food-culture-and-literary-imagination-in-early-modern-italy-the-renaissance-of-taste-laura-giannetti-food-culture-food-history-before-1900-amsterdam-amsterdam-university-press-2022-262-pp-113\/EAE491EC687BB4E92048D3807DD46A32\">a review authored by Professor Confalonieri<\/a> of Laura Giannetti\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aup.nl\/en\/book\/9789463728034\/food-culture-and-literary-imagination-in-early-modern-italy\"><em>Food Culture and Literary Imagination in Early Modern Italy: The Renaissance of Taste.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While in Italy, Professor Confalonieri also participated in a workshop at the University of Bologna featuring the Italian translator and publisher of Nobel Prize winner Annie Ernaux. The event offered a timely connection to Andrea Bajani\u2019s <em>L\u2019anniversario<\/em>, which he introduced at Chapman in April and which was awarded the Premio Strega in early July. Shortly thereafter, he contributed as a respondent in the <em>Forschungskolloquium<\/em> led by Professor Christian Rivoletti at FAU Erlangen-N\u00fcrnberg, continuing his engagement with international academic networks.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2504  alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic2-confalonieri-1-1-428x600.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"318\" height=\"445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic2-confalonieri-1-1-428x600.png 428w, https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic2-confalonieri-1-1-730x1024.png 730w, https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic2-confalonieri-1-1-768x1077.png 768w, https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic2-confalonieri-1-1.png 805w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 318px) 100vw, 318px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In mid-July, together with Gabriele Bucchi (Universit\u00e4t Basel), he launched a call for papers for a special issue of <em>AOQU<\/em> titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsa.org\/news\/news.asp?id=706307\">Epic and Destiny: Freedom and Necessity of Heroic Action between Antiquity and Modernity<\/a>,\u201d scheduled for publication in December 2026. The theme builds on ideas explored in his 2022 book on Tasso and epic theory (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.carocci.it\/prodotto\/torquato-tasso-e-il-desiderio-di-unita?srsltid=AfmBOopggxrSoBWOFiJMBdw6srmTWrvcmuJEUohlYbSUeRMwhH9RZ-sM\"><em>Torquato Tasso e il desiderio di unit\u00e0<\/em><\/a>, Carocci, 2022) and connects to a new book project currently underway on the concept of epic from Aristotle to the present, also under contract with Carocci.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Professor Confalonieri is also involved in several other collaborative initiatives, including organizing the <a href=\"https:\/\/rcsconline.org\/annual-conference-2\/2022-conference-registration\/\">67th Annual Conference of the Renaissance Conference of Southern California<\/a> (RCSC), which will be hosted at Chapman University on November 1, and coordinating sessions for the Renaissance Society of America\u2019s annual meeting in San Francisco (February 2026).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2357 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic3-confalonieri-463x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"463\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic3-confalonieri-463x600.jpg 463w, https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic3-confalonieri-768x995.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic3-confalonieri-791x1024.jpg 791w, https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic3-confalonieri-1186x1536.jpg 1186w, https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic3-confalonieri-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/pacchioni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Summer2025-pic3-confalonieri.jpg 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 463px) 100vw, 463px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As the fall semester approaches, he is preparing to teach Intermediate Italian 201 and a new first-year seminar on Italian literary ecologies, part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/wilkinson\/about\/events\/etw-environment-building-resilient-futures.aspx\">Wilkinson College\u2019s initiative on the environment and building resilient futures<\/a>.
