Several teachers of Italian from Southern California attended the professional training workshop led by Dr. Clorinda Donato at Chapman University on Saturday. The 3-hour workshop offered a fascinating look at current research and practice in third-language acquisition, a field of growing interest in language-teaching pedagogy in the United States, and in Southern California in particular.
The instructors who attended came from various institutions from around Southern California, such as: Pepperdine University, California State University Long Beach, Santiago Canyon College, Mt San Antonio College, Baxter High School, Spectrum Languages, and Fondazione Italia. The workshop was made possible by generous contributions from the Italian Studies Council.
