Media Literacy for Parents program is organized by Dr. Rebecca Tukachinsky Forster and her students from the School of Communication at Chapman University, Orange CA.
We view media as an exciting opportunity to promote a meaningful family discussion and personal growth. Our mission is to educate parents and caregivers about media literacy by providing them with research-based tools to make the best media decisions regarding their children that fit their goals, values and lifestyle.
What is media literacy?
Literacy usually refers to the ability to read and write. However, in today’s society it is critical to understand communication that is more technology-mediated. Specifically, our goal is to inform parents and children about media effects on society, providing them with science-based tips about how to enjoy media in a healthy and beneficiary way.
