A sample from Peter’s new comic book, illustrated by the amazingly talented Dodge College graduate student Miles Wilson. Breaking Free recounts moments from Peter’s early life growing up in a conservative working-class family in Toronto, hitchhiking to the US at nineteen to protest the Vietnam War, meeting up with Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg, attending the University of Toronto and taking classes from the likes of Michel Foucault and Umberto Eco, teaching elementary school, attending grad school and meeting Brazilian educator Paulo Freire.It recounts Peter’s travels to Latin America, his work in Mexico and Venezuela, his development of revolutionary critical pedagogy and the influence that Karl Marx and liberation theology has had on his life and work.
