2) Introduction
My name is Nikolay and I go by Niko, a 5th year PhD candidate at Chapman University, Computational and Data Sciences program. Have earned an MS in Geodesy, Photogrammetry, Cartography from UACEG-Sofia, and MS in Computer Science from TAMU-Corpus Christi. Worked as a software development manager of Hazus, FEMA’s natural hazards risk assessment GIS-based product where I participated in writing the riverine and coastal flooding, tsunami, and hurricane induced coastal surge models.
3) Research interest – past, present, and Future.
I am very interested in Data Science and in particular Causal Inference, High Performance Computing, Deep Learning, Generative Adversarial Networks to name a few of my research interests. With a dissertation topic on tropical cyclogenesis predictive and causal modeling, I love learning and researching in a new to me area that has not been sufficiently studied (as evidenced by the spaghetti plots preceding each cyclogenesis).
4) Hobbies and Extracurriculars.
I enjoy soccer, skiing, hiking, biking, scuba-diving, motorcycle cruising, learning and experiencing new cultures.
