He earned an undergraduate degree in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University before earning a Ph.D. in biology at Stanford University, where he studied evolutionary genetics. Jeremy came to Chapman in 2016 and served as an instructional assistant professor in biology until 2022, when he transitioned to a new assistant professor of biology position with expertise in biology education research. He started as Assistant Director for Research and Creative Activities at the <a style=\"color: dodgerblue\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/research\/center-for-undergraduate-excellence\/index.aspx\">Chapman Center for Undergraduate Excellence<\/a> in 2025. Before coming to Chapman, she worked in museum education teaching visitors of all ages about archaeology. She completed her BA in Anthropology and Classical Civilization at UCLA, and then her MA at CSULB in Applied Anthropology. Her master\u2019s thesis analyzed socialization and identity formation among the Garifuna community in Los Angeles. Dr. Henry earned both his M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Irvine, where his doctoral research analyzed global transformations in the legal category of childhood. He completed his B.A. in Sociology at California State University, Long Beach, after beginning his academic journey at Cypress Community College. He has contributed to NSF-funded research aimed at illuminating the STEM professoriate for Latino\/Hispanic students and uses qualitative, quantitative, and network-based approaches to study how institutional structures shape academic trajectories. His current research focuses on improving the efficacy and accessibility of office hours in biology courses to better support student learning and engagement.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-232\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/chapmanber\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2023\/09\/Grace-Holick-photo.jpg\" alt=\"Grace Holick photo\" width=\"239\" height=\"198\" \/>Grace Holick<\/strong><em> (she\/her) <\/em>is an undergraduate biology student at Chapman. She is passionate about learning and getting involved in all things biological sciences related. She earned her Ph.D. at Chapman in education with an emphasis in teacher education, and her research focuses on improving science and technology teaching and learning for K-12 students. She earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in liberal studies with a concentration in science education and a natural science minor, a biological and foundational science teaching credential, and a master\u2019s degree in educational technology from CSUF. Originally from Costa Rica, she previously worked as an elementary science teacher and science lab instructor. She has clinical experience after working as a medical scribe in the Emergency Center at San Antonio Regional Hospital. She has also engaged in numerous rhetorical projects including an analysis of the MeToo movement and is currently working on analyzing the &#8220;Pro-Woman, Pro-Life&#8221; framing in the abortion discourse. Jessie served as a tutor for intro to molecular genetics and general chemistry during the undergraduate portion of the pre-pharmacy Accelerated Pharmacy Experience Program. She has a passion for teaching and the sciences. She is planning on going into academia or the pharmaceutical industry after completing pharmacy school.
