Poems from the book have been published at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poetsreadingthenews.com\/2018\/04\/pueblo-sin-fronteras-brian-glaser-poetry\/\">Poets Reading the News, <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/the-otolith.blogspot.com\/2019\/04\/brian-glaser.html\">Otoliths.<\/a> The closing sequence of the book, &#8220;Saltwater Wetlands,&#8221; is accessible\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.chapman.edu\/bglaser\/bglaser\/contradictions\/all-the-hills\/saltwater-wetlands\/\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Each book I have published since this one exists because of the discovery of this book, which was that I could broaden and deepen my exploration of the themes of the first book, <em>The Sacred Heart<\/em>. To create and find a publisher for a second book was confirmation that I am right to take my art seriously.<\/p>\n<p>There are other discoveries here too: the engagement with an urgent question in the United States in the year of its writing, separation of migrant families at the border, is strongly felt and written in the natural speech I feel at home with. And some of the influences I studied closely for two decades get transformed: the closing sequence, &#8220;Saltwater Wetlands,&#8221; a work of prayerful attention to the Bolsa Chica Wetlands, repurposes what I found in Louise Gl\u00fcck&#8217;s <em>The Wild Iris.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My second book, All the Hills, was published in September, 2019 by Shanti Arts Press.
